Policy

Chargeback policy.

How Nyhilism handles card-issuer disputes, the consequences for accounts that initiate one without contacting us first, and the mitigation controls we run to keep the network’s chargeback ratio under the network thresholds.

01

Contact us first

If you don’t recognize a charge on your statement, or you think a charge is wrong, please contact us before opening a dispute with your card issuer:

  • Email [email protected] from the registered account address.
  • Reply within 1 business day with a transaction ID and a brief description of the dispute.

Most disputes resolve without a chargeback because the charge is for an auction-deposit or campaign-spend transaction that maps directly to a delivery log we can produce on request.

02

What counts as a chargeback

Any reversal initiated through a card issuer, bank, or wallet provider — including chargebacks, ACH returns, and PayPal / wallet disputes — falls under this policy. Once a processor is signed, the descriptor on your statement will be one of CCBILL.COM*NYHILISM, EPOCH.COM*NYHILISM, or SEGPAY*NYHILISM depending on the rail you used. Card-rail processing is pending approval during alpha.

03

Representment process

Once we’re notified of a chargeback we contest it through the processor’s representment workflow. Within 7 business days we submit:

  • The signed agreement (Terms acceptance timestamp + IP).
  • The transaction record (date, amount, descriptor).
  • The delivery log: every impression and click served, with timestamps, viewability flags, and the invalid-traffic discount already applied.
  • Email correspondence (if any) showing the cardholder was given a refund path before filing the chargeback.
  • IP + user-agent logs proving the account holder placed the order.

We don’t contest chargebacks where the cardholder has a legitimate reason we can’t rebut (e.g., the card was actually compromised) — we agree the reversal and move on.

04

Account consequences

When a chargeback is filed without prior contact, the associated account is immediately suspended pending resolution. Specifically:

  • Active campaigns stop serving and the balance is frozen.
  • Pending creative reviews are halted.
  • Org-wide billing is disabled until the dispute resolves.
  • API access is revoked.

If the chargeback is found in our favor we restore the account and resume normal billing. If the cardholder wins the dispute we close the account and the disputed amount plus the processor’s chargeback fee is owed to Nyhilism — the owed-balance shows up on the next sign-in attempt and must be settled before service resumes elsewhere on the network.

05

Fees & recovery

Pass-through processor fees

Each chargeback carries a fee from the processor (typically $20–$30 USD per item). When a chargeback is filed without prior contact and we lose representment, the fee is added to the delinquent-balance ledger on the account.

Collection

For unrecovered delinquent balances over $250 USD we may engage a third-party collections agency or pursue civil recovery in the contractual jurisdiction named in the Terms of service. Costs of collection (agency fees, court fees, reasonable attorney’s fees) are recoverable in addition to the underlying balance.

06

Adverse-ratio mitigation

We maintain our merchant standing with the card networks by keeping the chargeback-to-transaction ratio well under the network excessive-chargeback thresholds (Visa 0.9% under VDMP, Mastercard 1.5% under ECP). The integrity measures that keep the ratio low include:

  • Required CVV / 3-D Secure on every transaction over $200 USD on the rails that support it.
  • Velocity checks on new accounts (max 3 deposits/day for first 7 days).
  • OFAC / sanctions screening at signup.
  • Clear, dispute-resistant statement descriptors (above).
  • One-click refund flow before chargeback escalation: the account email is captured at signup and the refund form on /refunds sends to a monitored inbox.
